We've called a cease-fire.

I won't be going out for Christmas dinner with ex in-laws, but I will be having Christmas dinner with ex (and Mini, obviously).

He'll come round for dinner and give Mini his presents then go to his GF's later on.

Immediately after I said it - *worry* ...

* Will anyone think it's ok or be bothered about it? (No, don't be darft)

* Will Mini think anything of it? (I bluddy hope not, mibbe I should send a card to the GF?)

* Will I have to watch endless episodes of Top Gear/Ray Mears/shit our-family-always-watches-this-type-of film? (I have a TV card in the comp plus 2 tellies)

Thousands of folk do it every year ... getting together at highly emotional times to spend far too long with folk they don't normally get on with

It'll be fine.

Won't it?

I have to be honest and say I'm not looking forward to xmas.

I don't think I'll get to spend it the way I'd like too

I'll be spending it with my parents and sis who I love, my aunt and three cute kids who I've not seen in ages, and my uncle who I think is a controlling, stingy, humourless twat.

I'll be here. unless mr scrooge (Blokey) doesn't allow me to use the pc for more than 15 minutes a day. and if he is. I WILL REBEL! but christmas will be far from cheerful. i'm preparing myself to resist being driven up the wall.. xx

My parents tend to make reservations for Christmas dinner with friends. The girls and I are //never// invited, so we spend part of the day with ex's lot who are a lovely welcoming bunch of folks.

I'll mostly be on the phone to the posh un though. Last Christmas apart, thank four letter swear word beginning with f.

  It's times like these I wish my family were a bit more 'together'. Dad does the whole family thing with his wife's family (Glasgow), my aunt eats alone or with church pals (Glasgow) and my bro will get bluddy rat-arsed somewhere in Manc.

    Oh, I can't be doing with family Xmases. I'm not really an Xmas person. I love the whole lights, giving the kids presents thing, but I hate giving gifts to others because they always look great when I buy and wrap them, and shite when they get unwrapped. Too stressful.
