I could get angry about the aggressive game. I could have said NO. I could have refused to go into town looking for it when ex messed-up arrangements to buy it. There's a huge furore about this new game - you have to pre-order it!
But.
* He's a gamer firstly and foremost(ly?) and actually couldn't give a crap about the language etc. He's into the missions and all the new things you can do on this version.
* If I said NO I'd be the frickin big bad wolf again. I have been for refusing all the other GTA games.
* My ex didn't give me the choice, as per usual. It's the price you have to pay for regular contact for child with the not-living-in-the-house person.
We never really agreed on the way we dealt with parenting. It was a bone of contention.
I get annoyed at the stuff he's being de-sensitised to. I get annoyed at all the troops sitting in my living room whenever they're not at school.
You have to pick your battles. At least he feels comfortable to be himself around me, most of the time. They're always a bit toned down when in my company.
That's all.

I hate Vista.
I'm rapidly going off bluetooth 'dongles' (what a frickin name).
In other news. I trailed *throughout the length and breath *of the werrild of Cambridge to find GTA IV
(*sibling joke)
Yes I know ... aggression, language, sex, etc. I've read all the stuff attacking it's creation. I vaguely agree but it was promised and I had no say in it. So I'm gonna go with "All the magazines and websites give it a 100% rating."
I wince as I walk through the living room and hear them screaming abuse. In the game too. I imagine my house will be overflowing with competitive small males.
Oh joy. Thanks for that.
So far I've been locked in the PC room tussling with a ... fuckin-nothing-works-with-fuckin-Vista ... *cough* bluetooth dongle, which seems to like my PC but not the frickin lappie.

It was sunny here today. Into town for a while.
The wee yin went to ex's last night cos ex wants Sunday free to spend with GF. He's going to Estonia for a week's shooting in a few days.
Had lunch at the usual place. I'm kinda going off Starbucks though - baby screaming for about 10 minutes solid and foreign family taking photographs (me in the background probably) at the next table. A flash every so often, reminded me of Men In Black.
Spent money I don't have to cheer myself up. Get paid next week *shrug*
Flash drive ( 2GB )
Lappie mouse (Belkin, sh*t, doubtful if it's Vista compatible)
Sebastian Faulks' "Engleby" (book, story set in Camb Uni)
Bill Bryson's "Shakespeare"
Pleased with the flash drive. And the books. Starting with Engleby.

1. What is your favourite comedy film?
Down With Love. It's so harmless but hysterical and the style of Cary Grant type movies is very well mimicked
2. What is your favourite comedy on TV?
Loads. Green Wing, Scrubs, Rab C, Frasier ....
3. Who is your best Comedy actor/actress?
Steve Carroll
4. If you could write a comedy what would it be about?
It would have to be a farce, in the style of Frasier. Really is the only way to look at life.
5. What is the Funniest thing you have ever seen be it in person or on a TV show or film?
Sue White in Green Wing's second series (first episode I think) crawling through the ducts to surprise what's-her-name (sticky-up black hair) with awful news. In fact, most of Green Wing really

It's the turn of 16 and 17 year olds today.
Sauntering over the bridge, I jump, as a bike tyre pops. Poor sod looks like she'll be late for work now.
"Lock it to the railings" I suggest.
Across the road 2 cackling crows - "POP Waaaahaaahaaa! POP Waaaahaahaa"
*repeat for 50 yards*
I know they think it's hilarious and maybe I'll be embarrassed that I jumped? Er ... no.
But I am getting hacked-off at their daft assumptions.
They see a friend of their's on this side. Walk in front of me. The one on the bike plonks her bike across the pavement.
*me, furious with years of oppressed anger at bully types*
"Can ye move?"

Today hasn't been great.
The news about Mark Speight was awful, not unexpected, but awful nonetheless. Reading the obituaries made it worse, cos he seemed like such a lovely person.
Ex was here early to bring back Xbox and give the boy some money for schoolbooks - he left his school bag on the bus a couple of weeks ago. We had a disagreement about holidays and time spent with the wee yin.
I know he's a great dad. I know he spends more time with him than a lot of dads who live with their kids. The problem is me. I still don't trust him - always thinking he's making everything fine for him and it's all on his terms. The wee yin shouldn't hear any of this. It put him on a downer and therefore put me on one too.
I texted ex saying sorry, wish I coulda texted my boy. Don't want to wreck his day ![]()
Boss seemed a bit moody in work, so I was moody back. Then apologised. He was cool - "having a bad day?" ... "Aye, sorry"
Home. Phoned solicitors - they still haven't sent the paperwork that they phoned to tell me they were sending three weeks ago! The girl dealing with it is off till later this week.
Found Mini's school jumper *phew!* but not any socks. All my black socks have been redirected to his cupboard cos the local cheapo shop (the only one near here with socks) only has those minging navy ones with diamonds up the side. Who wears those?!
The one piece of good news isn't mine to tell. *meh*

Not been around much.
My router was giving me gyp. I say 'was' cos I've given up now. I think it was the settings. I'm not sussed enough with these kinda things to correct any mash-ups. Virgin doesn't support Belkin products so I'm taking it back to the shop and have ordered a pre-set-up router from Virgin. Easier.
Last night I couldn't even get on MSN with my normal modem
so it's been a tad isolating. Skype Chat was being huffy too, and would only send some comments when I called Andy and hung up ![]()
It's working now. I'll have to forget about the lappie till Virgin send the dooda.
I'm visiting my friend P in hospital today. Can't remember if I told you but she had to have her gall bladder removed. She's been out of hospital for a while but they took her in again the other day because of the pain.
Off to Argos first with the pesky-but-cheap router.
Don't wanna go out really.
Incidentally - where are Mini's socks? He was moaning the other morning about having no clean socks so I thought they'd all be in the wash. Did a washing and ... one pair! Most socks get lost one at a time so what's with my laundry, eh?

It just sparked something in me tonight, seeing the interaction between hamster cheeks (Gail) and Demon boy (David).
They are handling the 'issue' way better than I thought they would. It kicks me in the gut. There are so many angry and frustrated people, with so many issues to deal with and they don't know where to begin. Some turn it in on themselves. Some lash out at others (I did for years). Some look at it through beer goggles or a myriad of other disguises. It breaks my heart when I calm the noise in my head to think of all this. Aching people with no direction, no hope, no belief in themselves or others.
Stupid misunderstandings and badly-dealt-with situations through ... well, just not knowing how to.
We're all just doing our best. Sometimes it doesn't feel enough though.
We keep trying. No answers.

The local friendly Hot Fuzz dude came round last night. Asked if MW had shown her face. No. Then closed the door to chat about the lad. ![]()
I've known for a while that he's been messing around - sitting on roofs etc. I knew that one of his pals threw summat through a roof and got nabbed by the shop keepers. I knew that another one had been busy with a can of spray paint. This is what the chat was about. He was frickin ace with my boy when he talked to him. Mini can't handle telling lies anyway but the guy was so chilled I think any kid woulda talked to him. Well trained.
Anyway. The boy remembered that him and his wee mates had found a suitcase full of electrical goods. He brought it back to our house and they tried phoning him, couldn't get him, so procrastinated lol.
He praised him in a laid-back manner that was just right and the boy is his friend for life, I reckon.
He came back later on to collect it once he had a van.
Today. The boy spent the whole day at home, watching telly and being on lappie. The first day of his holidays he's done that. He's been so quiet and huggy.
I suspect it was the Hot Fuzz dude coming round ... and I'm really proud of the wee yin for taking it all in. Ah stuff that - I's proud of him anyhow
He even fell asleep on the couch for 2 hours. Lemme tell you ... when kids have stuff to think about - they sleep. Or half sleep. I've just realised that I've no idea what all the keys are on this doo-daa. Why is there a second question mark??
A dollar sign with a key all of it's own!!! $$ A Euro key €€
Ok so Vista isn't so bad. I just feel like I got back from holiday and someone shifted all my furniture round. The techie guy yesterday, from Belkin, talked me through sorting my router. He was good 'n' all, but kept saying stuff and then pausing for flipping ages - it was as though there was a time delay. Our accents clashed too. Him from India (somewhere) and me being ever so slightly Scottish.
The lad & I were gabbing about dialects the other morning. Mini says 'wee' and 'aye' and 'numpty'. Actually 'numpty' seems to have been adopted by the rest of the UK now so it's only arguably Scottish.
The night before, he & another lad were having a cushion fight in the living room. I was trying to get to sleep so leaned over the bannister and yelled ... "Goany not do that!"
I got back into bed and started giggling. How Anglicised I sounded!
So I told him and his mate about "gonnae no' dae that! just gonnae no'!"
It was an out-of-the-body experience for me. Felt like someone else said it and I was thinking 'jeez, haven't heard a guid strong scottish accent for ages!'
I miss folk saying
"How?" when they mean Why?
going up the road (home)
going for the messages (shopping)
Mildly bored writing a post now. can't think of anything else to say
