Feeling quite humbled. Watching the McCanns on telly. What a nightmare.

Please Lord find their girl alive.

  • BTW

I could get angry about the aggressive game. I could have said NO. I could have refused to go into town looking for it when ex messed-up arrangements to buy it. There's a huge furore about this new game - you have to pre-order it!

    But.

    * He's a gamer firstly and foremost(ly?) and actually couldn't give a crap about the language etc. He's into the missions and all the new things you can do on this version.

    * If I said NO I'd be the frickin big bad wolf again. I have been for refusing all the other GTA games.

    * My ex didn't give me the choice, as per usual. It's the price you have to pay for regular contact for child with the not-living-in-the-house person.

We never really agreed on the way we dealt with parenting. It was a bone of contention.

I get annoyed at the stuff he's being de-sensitised to. I get annoyed at all the troops sitting in my living room whenever they're not at school.

You have to pick your battles. At least he feels comfortable to be himself around me, most of the time. They're always a bit toned down when in my company.

    That's all.

    I hate Vista.

I'm rapidly going off bluetooth 'dongles' (what a frickin name).

In other news. I trailed *throughout the length and breath *of the werrild of Cambridge to find GTA IV  (*sibling joke)

Yes I know ... aggression, language, sex, etc. I've read all the stuff attacking it's creation. I vaguely agree but it was promised and I had no say in it. So I'm gonna go with "All the magazines and websites give it a 100% rating."

I wince as I walk through the living room and hear them screaming abuse. In the game too. I imagine my house will be overflowing with competitive small males.

    GTA IV

    Oh joy. Thanks for that.

So far I've been locked in the PC room tussling with a ... fuckin-nothing-works-with-fuckin-Vista ... *cough* bluetooth dongle, which seems to like my PC but not the frickin lappie.

Bill Gates is in the bad books.

  • Garden pix

I tried to get some photos of my garden but they didn't turn out too well.

  • Finally

Got my fee exemption form filled out for my divorce.

It worried me a bit in case I did something wrong and ended up having to pay it (I know I can't possibly afford it)

Well, there's absolutely no chance that I'll be paying anything

Printed out loads and loads of statements, they have to know flippin everything.

The cut-off for a single person with one child is somewhere over £15,000 per year.

I get almost half that :)) so I guess there will be no heavy debt with this one!

Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Laugh, I spose. My face is puffy enough :))

  • NOT aimed anywhere in particular ...

    but quite quite funny

  • Sat'day

It was sunny here today. Into town for a while.

The wee yin went to ex's last night cos ex wants Sunday free to spend with GF. He's going to Estonia for a week's shooting in a few days.

Had lunch at the usual place. I'm kinda going off Starbucks though - baby screaming for about 10 minutes solid and foreign family taking photographs (me in the background probably) at the next table. A flash every so often, reminded me of Men In Black.

Spent money I don't have to cheer myself up. Get paid next week *shrug*

    Flash drive ( 2GB )
Lappie mouse (Belkin, sh*t, doubtful if it's Vista compatible)
Sebastian Faulks' "Engleby" (book, story set in Camb Uni)
    Bill Bryson's "Shakespeare"

Pleased with the flash drive. And the books. Starting with Engleby.

    Home.

Oooh ... sit in the garden!

*feckin truckload of 'things' to take out there*

    baccy & lighter
    ashtray
    cuppa tea
    little table
    folding chair
    books
    lappie
portable hard drive full of music
    headphones
    mouse (to install)
    flash drive (to install)
    mobile
    cordless housephone
sponge & cloth to mop up spilt tea on wobbly little table

I like my home comforts. Can you imagine me trying to camp?

Anyway, before I got the bus back I looked behind me at the bus stop and realised how cute this was ... and right in the centre of town ....

    1. What is your favourite comedy film?
Down With Love. It's so harmless but hysterical and the style of Cary Grant type movies is very well mimicked

    2. What is your favourite comedy on TV?
Loads. Green Wing, Scrubs, Rab C, Frasier ....

    3. Who is your best Comedy actor/actress?
    Steve Carroll

    4. If you could write a comedy what would it be about?
It would have to be a farce, in the style of Frasier. Really is the only way to look at life.

    5. What is the Funniest thing you have ever seen be it in person or on a TV show or film?

Sue White in Green Wing's second series (first episode I think) crawling through the ducts to surprise what's-her-name (sticky-up black hair) with awful news. In fact, most of Green Wing really :))

  • Woohoo Heather!

I think that's gotta be the best bit of Easties I've ever seen :>>

  • The Ultimate Heroine?

I think they spelt that wrong.

Apparently Sky did a poll on who our heroes are.

    Ultimate Heroines (from under 25s)

    Amy Winehouse
    Anjelina Jolie
    Victoria Beckham (!)
    Kylie Minogue
    Coleen McLoughlin (!)

I'd agree with Kylie, but the rest?????

    Ultimate heroes (from under 25s)

    Steven Gerard
    Pete Doherty (OMG, really?)

Heroines in the general poll ...

    Princess Diana
    Amy Winehouse

Heroes in the general poll ...

    Winston Churchill
    Elvis Presley (ah-huh-huh)

Good grief! Is that it? Are those all we've got?

    ........................................

Or are Sky viewers mad? ;D

    M'outside.

I has warm kneecaps. And Doritos.

The Camelia looks like it's gonna collapse under the weight of big pink flowers :>> Seriously, there's heaps of them beneath it too! It's the most healthy part of the garden, the rest is totally neglected. The grass is full of moss. Ex used to do all that but I've had no motivation to bother really. Who wants to sit alone all the time? But now I have my lappie I don't feel quite so alone (oh gawd how sad that sounds!)

    So.

I need to get some Weed n Feed for the grass (graaaass, not grarss) :P

I need to make the hoe pay for it's keep

And mibbe buy some plants. When I've recovered from the recent devastation of my funds :>>

A hedge at the end would be good cos folk walk past using the back path as a shortcut all the time.

Oh yeah, and there's a patch of wasteland next to the back fence where ex built Mini a 'sniper den' years ago, and I tore down last year as he's given up sniping :>>

Of course I could just sit here and ignore it all. I'll prolly do that for a bit :D

A few days ago when my router was playing up ... blog was going MEGA slow for me. Not many others seemed to have the same problem at the time.

Since the data centre shift and alla that it's been fine for me. Quite a few of you have said you've been having problems. I wish I understood it. Must be summat to do with us being assigned different servers or summat :??:

While you lot have been having hassle ... I've been able to connect but bored ... cuz you lot ain't posting :))

    Ho Hum

I've been wearing my wrist support and ankle support for the last two days. It seems to be helping, must remember to do that regularly. Slobbing out in my trackie bottoms and cheeky tee shirt ("Do I LOOK like a people person?") ... all in black. I've felt thinner even if I am stuffing my gob with Crunchie ice creams and Tunnochs Caramel Wafers (yum)

    Attractive, huh? ;D

    Fuckit. I like being me.

  • ok day

In my bedroom. Avoiding children. Except when I MSN Mini to make me a cuppa :))

His pal stayed over last night but has disappeared to another friend's house just up the road. I reckon he's gone for a fag. There's only so many times I'm gonna say summat. Let their mums sort it out

Brought my brekkie up here. Not in a bulimic way. It's so peaceful - JR on radio, cuppa tea, lappie finally not stropping every time I sign in, comfy chair, can't hear the washing machine ... or the (c)rap music from the PC room. Can't see the mess downstairs - I know it's there but I could care more.

    Bliss.

Was nice though when the wee yin came up for a chat when his mate skidaddled. I like our morning blethers in this very loud pink, but strangely peaceful, room.

    Miss you ♥

    That's all.

  • Raaaaaaar!

It's the turn of 16 and 17 year olds today.

Sauntering over the bridge, I jump, as a bike tyre pops. Poor sod looks like she'll be late for work now.

"Lock it to the railings" I suggest.

Across the road 2 cackling crows - "POP Waaaahaaahaaa! POP Waaaahaahaa"

    *repeat for 50 yards*

I know they think it's hilarious and maybe I'll be embarrassed that I jumped? Er ... no.

But I am getting hacked-off at their daft assumptions.

They see a friend of their's on this side. Walk in front of me. The one on the bike plonks her bike across the pavement.

*me, furious with years of oppressed anger at bully types*

    "Can ye move?"

    *minor heckling*

I'm gonna get smacked one of these days. I can feel it.

Had some extremely aggravating news a short time ago. It's not helping my aggression status.

Some pointy-headed bosses need a right boot up the arse. *fuming*

  • meh

Y'know how I told you the other day that wee kids bug me? Well I'm including 12, 13 and 14 year olds in that too.

I've had a gutful of which wee bugger is smoking, which is dabbling and which is telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

"Hi, I thought I'd better tell you cos I'd want to know if it was mine ... blahblahblah"

Why did I ever think I could do this? Seriously. Oh well, I'll have to do it not seriously. Hmm ... maybe not, I tried that.

  • not a lot

This woman is beginning to bug me

Regardless of the rights or wrongs of the guide book the fan wants to write, her behaviour in court is pathetic. *sob sob* My poor bank balance

Boss wasn't in today, so I only had a few things to do then off to town :D

First stop - sports shop for many socks :|

    Starbucks - lunch. It's child-friendly, me - not so much. 8|

I reckon by the time yer kid gets to a certain age you are so sick of all the toddler stuff you become allergic to rugrats. No, it's not fair but it happens. Irritating small people.

I'm not really in a bad mood. It's just that the last few times I've been in there for lunch there have been weirdos and noisy folk drawn to the 6 foot radius surrounding my table.

    Grumpy old woman.

Mini's turn for PC. See ya later

Took a bit of faffing around ... nice helpful Indian lady wasn't able to sort it but I did! Woohoo!

I bet it fucks up later

Late for work this morning :-/

Forgot to buy packed-lunch for rearranged school trip :-/

    Felt like a crap mum.

He was happy with a handful of pound coins but I still feel guff about it.

He'll be even happier when he realises this is working again.

He has the net monkey on his back. The net monkey - he haz it.

Why am I double spacing everything?

Thanks for the tweety birds, Eggers ... they will be used for freaking out/luring next-door's cats when I'm bored :D

Aw damn ... I forgot lunch!

  • Grey Day

    Today hasn't been great.

The news about Mark Speight was awful, not unexpected, but awful nonetheless. Reading the obituaries made it worse, cos he seemed like such a lovely person.

Ex was here early to bring back Xbox and give the boy some money for schoolbooks - he left his school bag on the bus a couple of weeks ago. We had a disagreement about holidays and time spent with the wee yin.

I know he's a great dad. I know he spends more time with him than a lot of dads who live with their kids. The problem is me. I still don't trust him - always thinking he's making everything fine for him and it's all on his terms. The wee yin shouldn't hear any of this. It put him on a downer and therefore put me on one too.

I texted ex saying sorry, wish I coulda texted my boy. Don't want to wreck his day :(

Boss seemed a bit moody in work, so I was moody back. Then apologised. He was cool - "having a bad day?" ... "Aye, sorry"

Home. Phoned solicitors - they still haven't sent the paperwork that they phoned to tell me they were sending three weeks ago! The girl dealing with it is off till later this week.

Found Mini's school jumper *phew!* but not any socks. All my black socks have been redirected to his cupboard cos the local cheapo shop (the only one near here with socks) only has those minging navy ones with diamonds up the side. Who wears those?!

The one piece of good news isn't mine to tell. *meh*

    I want a cake.

  • Still sniggering

  • Joke

A guy walks into a bar and there's a horse serving drinks.

The horse asks, "What are you staring at? Haven't you ever seen a horse tending bar before?"

The guy says, "It's not that. I just never thought the sheep would sell the place."

That was from Andy. He's fine. Busy doing surfy-type things :>>

  • Stuff

    Not been around much.

My router was giving me gyp. I say 'was' cos I've given up now. I think it was the settings. I'm not sussed enough with these kinda things to correct any mash-ups. Virgin doesn't support Belkin products so I'm taking it back to the shop and have ordered a pre-set-up router from Virgin. Easier.

Last night I couldn't even get on MSN with my normal modem :-/ so it's been a tad isolating. Skype Chat was being huffy too, and would only send some comments when I called Andy and hung up

It's working now. I'll have to forget about the lappie till Virgin send the dooda.

I'm visiting my friend P in hospital today. Can't remember if I told you but she had to have her gall bladder removed. She's been out of hospital for a while but they took her in again the other day because of the pain.

Off to Argos first with the pesky-but-cheap router.

    Don't wanna go out really.

Incidentally - where are Mini's socks? He was moaning the other morning about having no clean socks so I thought they'd all be in the wash. Did a washing and ... one pair! Most socks get lost one at a time so what's with my laundry, eh?

    *truly baffled*

Weeping at feckin Coronation Street!

It just sparked something in me tonight, seeing the interaction between hamster cheeks (Gail) and Demon boy (David).

They are handling the 'issue' way better than I thought they would. It kicks me in the gut. There are so many angry and frustrated people, with so many issues to deal with and they don't know where to begin. Some turn it in on themselves. Some lash out at others (I did for years). Some look at it through beer goggles or a myriad of other disguises. It breaks my heart when I calm the noise in my head to think of all this. Aching people with no direction, no hope, no belief in themselves or others.

Stupid misunderstandings and badly-dealt-with situations through ... well, just not knowing how to.

We're all just doing our best. Sometimes it doesn't feel enough though.

    We keep trying. No answers.

Fed-up tonight. In two different ways. I might be addicted to strawberry laces. My head hurts - sugar overload? Yeah, you're right ... hormones.

    Dumb-assed news stories

The woman said ages ago that she thought her daughter had been taken to get at her. On fuckin live TV news! Of course she knew a bit more than she was letting on!

Register paedos email addresses! pffft! yeah cos God knows they're so hard to come by.

And fine ... go on then ... tax us more heavily, the ones who can't even get tax credit. That'll make sense when you're raking in the allowances left right and centre just for being a blob inna suit. Princess Diana!!! No, the minds won't feel settled about all that now cos we know how slimy the puppetmasters of UK are. It probably isn't a big sneaky thing but it easily could be - no-one believes the government has integrity anymore.

    A YAM GOOD AT COOKING

I was reassured of this tonight, twice. First, when talking to a strangely non-yokel-sounding bloke on the phone. Second, when I tasted my home-cooked Jollof Rice.

    It's feckin ace :))

I went into town briefly today to see the new arcade that's opened.

Feckin Grand Arcade my arse. Not a great choice of shops, not quite designer but not normal prices either and not big enough cafe. Do I have to do everything round here, eh?

Ah well, it means the surrounding shops will have to get their crap together. Oh, and there's gonna be a Primark in the other part of town - joy. We lost the best cheapo shop a few years ago - QD - because the shop where Grand Arcade was planned to be had to close and relocate. I think I signed the petition against it 3 times :))

Need more tea and mibbe a few biccies  see you inna bit.

  • Posted quickly before I'm booted off again

The local friendly Hot Fuzz dude came round last night. Asked if MW had shown her face. No. Then closed the door to chat about the lad. :-/

I've known for a while that he's been messing around - sitting on roofs etc. I knew that one of his pals threw summat through a roof and got nabbed by the shop keepers. I knew that another one had been busy with a can of spray paint. This is what the chat was about. He was frickin ace with my boy when he talked to him. Mini can't handle telling lies anyway but the guy was so chilled I think any kid woulda talked to him. Well trained.

Anyway. The boy remembered that him and his wee mates had found a suitcase full of electrical goods. He brought it back to our house and they tried phoning him, couldn't get him, so procrastinated lol.

He praised him in a laid-back manner that was just right and the boy is his friend for life, I reckon.

He came back later on to collect it once he had a van.

Today. The boy spent the whole day at home, watching telly and being on lappie. The first day of his holidays he's done that. He's been so quiet and huggy.

I suspect it was the Hot Fuzz dude coming round ... and I'm really proud of the wee yin for taking it all in. Ah stuff that - I's proud of him anyhow :))

He even fell asleep on the couch for 2 hours. Lemme tell you ... when kids have stuff to think about - they sleep. Or half sleep. I remember retiring to my bed for hours just to think when I was his age. You eventually fall asleep and your subconscious takes over - shifting round the furniture of yer brain ;)

The damn connection tells me it's 100% then proceeds to boot me off at regular intervals :(

  • No I don't want a refurbished one

  • Oh brother where art thou?

I wonder where he is? I thought he was a confirmed bloggee already, never to leave this place :))

Must be doing ... actual work (or stuff thereabouts)

I've just realised that I've no idea what all the keys are on this doo-daa. Why is there a second question mark?? ;) A dollar sign with a key all of it's own!!! $$ A Euro key €€

Ok so Vista isn't so bad. I just feel like I got back from holiday and someone shifted all my furniture round. The techie guy yesterday, from Belkin, talked me through sorting my router. He was good 'n' all, but kept saying stuff and then pausing for flipping ages - it was as though there was a time delay. Our accents clashed too. Him from India (somewhere) and me being ever so slightly Scottish.

The lad & I were gabbing about dialects the other morning. Mini says 'wee' and 'aye' and 'numpty'. Actually 'numpty' seems to have been adopted by the rest of the UK now so it's only arguably Scottish.

The night before, he & another lad were having a cushion fight in the living room. I was trying to get to sleep so leaned over the bannister and yelled ... "Goany not do that!"

I got back into bed and started giggling. How Anglicised I sounded! :))

So I told him and his mate about "gonnae no' dae that! just gonnae no'!"

It was an out-of-the-body experience for me. Felt like someone else said it and I was thinking 'jeez, haven't heard a guid strong scottish accent for ages!' :))

    I miss folk saying

    "How?" when they mean Why?

    going up the road (home)

    going for the messages (shopping)

Mildly bored writing a post now. can't think of anything else to say

    blah

    :DD
