P phoned me today ... "Wanna go for coffee in town?"

    "YES!"

"Cor ye said that a bit quick!" :))

Went to the Grafton today. Felt really sad to see all the shops that are closing. The whole place is supposed to close in April for a refit. They say it'll just be a food court from now on. Bizarre. It's quite BIG for just a food court.

Whittards is closing down. Zavvi. The craft shop (I don't care but P likes it) Loads have already shut. The rest have sales on.

A proper sweetie shop has opened. I hope they last till April cos I've been longing to see those kinda shops for a while now. Bought some Liquorice Torpedoes :>> and sweetie cigarettes.

Went to the Pound Shop. Red/black long stripy socks, pink/black ones and yellow/black ones. Tidy. And some Galaxy Bliss hot choccy (woohoo) £4 all in.

Treated myself to Aussie conditioner. This is lame ... I'm writing my shopping list on blog.

It cost more than the Pound Shop goodies all together so I've been cutting back on stuff like that. Pffft feckit!

Lunch with cheesecake mmm, then a massive latte later on. That's living, that is ...

My back has been killing me all day so I got cheapo thermal wraps. Boots own brand ... 3 for £3.99 ... they're alright - last for 12 hours - but the other kind are better. I was that cold in town I considered sticking them on my hands too.

Mini had half a can of lager tonight and it affected him enough to have to confess it when he came back to face my wrath for not doing the dishes. He says he couldn't see straight! One friend is allowed alcohol at key events (holidays and birthdays kinda) and the other one lives above a pub that his parents run. I suppose I should be glad he only tried half a can.

    Wan Can Dan :))

He went to bed at 9.30. Shattered.

I've been drinking a leetle bit of Bacardi. I won't be drunk ... just thought I should do summat different *shrug*

Oooooooh fireworks! Crikey, there's aaaages yet!

Ah well. Dull post. Spilled it out a bit. Happy New one

Checked last night and the Christmas present cheque had cleared (yay!)

Checked this morning and the CSA money had arrived (yay yay!)

But. It was £10 short :??: (boo!)

Anyroads. Ex phoned my boy and told him he was coming to take both of us to lunch. We went to Nando's and had the usual (chicken burgers for them, chicken pitta for me) He agreed it was penance for pissing me off yesterday :>>

He has a two seater van so the wee yin cycled. It's just down the road from my house anyway.

Ex dropped me at the PC shop after, with my lappie. The guy in the shop had no idea about the other guy quoting me that he'd put RAM in for free (oops) but he was very kind and did it anyway. Had a nice chat too :D

Into town. Bought 3 DVDs ... Casino Royale, I Am Legend and Run FatBoy Run. The first two for the wee yin and the other for me :>>

Got 3 tee shirts too ... a Joker one, and Stewie with a hat for Mini, a green Sesame Street one for me (yay)

I wanted to take the wee yin to the cinema but with his G2G card, he's seen all the best films already

He'd had enough of parents for one day and declined my invitation to go into town ... he ditched me :))

  • Someone hasn't got PM allowed

I just noticed my reply to someone was sitting in drafts (brrr) :))

So here it is, you wee cutie xxxx

I'm ok honest. Got DSS money today.

    You wee lamb *snuggles* xxxxx

  • half-way house

Humungusly long cable arrived. Frickin bargain. (about a £5er)

I could almost blog at the Co-op now if I felt the need (to boot up my lappie in the middle of a shop and risk tripping up cyclists of a mornin')

Unfortunately the VGA cable isn't here yet so I've been 'watching' Search & Destroy missions for mosta the day *lifts lip a bit like Elvis*

Mini has 'threatened' (promised?) to leave home to live with his dad cos I'm such an evil mummy. I take his pal's side too much apparently.

"Would your mum put up with that kinda backchat?"

"No, Mrs Subz, she'd kick my feckin head in"

    "Thought not"

Boy appears from upstairs. Suitcase in hand.

    *cue phonecall from ex*

"He's really upset, you'd better talk to him"

"Ok, can he stay with you soon? I need a break."

Half-way through holidays. One more week I can do that, right?

    He's apologised now.

  • my time

I spoke to another adult today :D Of course I've seen the ex over the past few days, but he doesn't count ;)

It was most pleasant. Only blighted by the horrendous smell of ... cooked cabbage? Rancid fish heads? Revellers stomach contents? ... as we drove through the multi-storey.

I walked through John Lewis (the shop, not the bloke ... that would be impressive but I'm not a poltergeist) without wanting to cry. I snorted with derision at their 'bargains' and felt pleased I had no dosh yet.

I suspect the f*ck-up with the CSA is their way of pushing folk towards dealing with their ex's without a mediator. During the recent change in how they organise payments, we were given the option to deal directly with the estranged parent. The problem with that is ... if the said ex doesn't cough up, you have to chase them up yourself, the CSA wash their hands of you once you tick that box.

Hmmm. My ex might behave and create a standing order for Mini, but the majority wouldn't. *fneugh*

How did I get onto this? Oh yeah, no dosh. We haven't gone without anything and I know we won't. Lucky us. Lots will *grrr*

P brought me 5 frozen meals that one of her friends had made for her. She has some digestion problems and can only eat stodge right now (seriously) as anything healthy has to be cut out of her diet. So I now have kedgeree, soup, a casserole and a some other things.

You can see the stages I've been going through, eh? Happy, grumpy, repentant, humble. Predictable :))

Ah well. It was nice today and because the wee yin was too ill to go to his dad's this weekend, I shall ask if he can go there for a few days over New Year. I think I need a break. It's been Xbox all evening again tonight. I got an hour watching the Jack The Ripper thing and I've recorded the Big Fat Quiz :>>

  • Chav TV

    OMG it's appalling!

My boy likes 'grime' - yeah :??:

It's kinda street music ... blud.

Channel U seems to be the church of chav. The videos are running a few seconds ahead of the audio  and the adverts are by dodgy kids who've recorded it on their pal's wee sister's laptop.

    I'm embarrassed for them.

Must leave the house. Immediately ...

  • Li'l bit bored

The boy phoned his dad this morning and the pair went out at 9ish. Mini was feeling slightly better and has been itching to spend Christmas money.

He's back now. Felt quite ill again in town so came back ASAP :(

There's bugger all on telly. Peep Show is on later and Starter For Ten (I read the book so I'll give it a shot). No soaps today *humph* :))

All the wee pals have been phoned - "Wanna come over and play Xbox?" :**:

He can't go out. Soon the cables will be here and they can all go live in his bedroom :))

The payment from CSA hasn't arrived *sigh* big surprise then. It's just as well P lent me money for food. I thought they'd operate like the DSS do ... payment due in holiday period arrives before the banks close. But no. Arseholes.

Feels like we're always living on the edge of it, but we do have food, do have somewhere to live, do have heating, do have each other. Actually shouldn't complain. Stoopid girl. Sort head out. Watching soaps is better than sweet films at this time of year :))

Ex didn't have a stunning time either. His GF has flu, her kid is going away with his dad tomorrow. Ex has to go buy wellies for the wee guy.

Just having a moan. I'll be fine later :>>

  • another day

Very quiet day. Well, apart from the gunfire.

I woke at 7ish and woke the wee yin

He was feeling pretty guff but we toddled downstairs and I made tea. Opened pressies under the tree with the lights all twinkly.

Watched Shrek The Halls cos I taped it yesterday when he was out playing with water bombs. Yes, I know. Div 'ead.

Needs to go Docs now I think cos it isn't shifting. Chest infection or something and he can't eat.

Ex came round for a few hours. Brought Mini's presents. He'd already got him some new clothes (501s etc) but he brought him COD World At War and an alarm clock that projects on the wall or wherever. Helps a lot cos his bed is so high up that he couldn't see the old clock.

Dinner at 1ish. S came round and they played Xbox for a while ... I went to bed for a few hours.

    So. Fairly quiet then.

Happy though. Missed Andy but not feeling desolate :D

Little bit bored but filled it with TV.

Not a drop of alcohol all day! Might have some soon though, else I won't sleep :))

    from CJ592

    1) What is the first Present you opened today?

    A pen, from my aunt.

    2) What's the first Christmas song you have heard today?

Haven't heard any yet! Hang on ... *checks Radio2 website* ... Oh Holy Night!

    3) Queen's Speech?

    Doubtful.

    4) Who's the first person you spoke to on the phone today?

    Andy.

    5) Stockings?

No, I'm wearing stripy black/white socks. (yes I know :P no, no stockings, I'm skint)

    6) Do you write thank you letters?

    No

    7) Any Breakfast rituals?

Naah, had toast with butter and a cuppa Earl Grey as per.

    8) Any present opening rituals?

Me and Mini sat under the tree with the twinkly lights on, unwrapping.

    9) Ever spent Christmas day on holiday?

Naah, but Mini has. Three years ago he went to Goa with his dad.

    10) Favourite ever Christmas number one.

Mary's Boy Child/Oh My Lord. (Wiki has the list)

  • Um

    Happy Christmas, you lot

I know there's been some tough things going on in quite a few people's lives, but I hope you all have some happy times this holiday. I'll be around, demonstrating my roller coaster of emotions to all and sundry :>>

    We are an effective community.

  • Oooh!

    I didn't know that happened!

Someone commented to me on another blog (Andy's) and when it appeared in my inbox it said the author was Andy. It's because his comments are moderated for non-friends list.

That explains why someone thought I was a nutter and got a bit shirty with me, ages ago ;D

  • The 3 day war film has finished

    Listen .....

    Quietness

The boy known as S is now ungrounded and Mini has a fun friend to run around causing havoc with again.

What can I say? Happy Christmas, neighbours.

I've had a gutful of Xbox for the past few days ;)

Time to reclaim the couch :>>

Goodbye for now, Vista-free fast PC.

    Hello, sluggish Microsoft-cursed laptop.

Looking forward to ... a haircut, some RAM in the lappie, a (somethingorother) cable to connect Xbox to bedroom'd PC, the fear of not having enough gas/electricity/milk diminishing ... all after Christmas.

I like my festivities all home-grown. Surrounded by remotes and cuppa teas.

Couldn't afford Martell but ne'er mind ... got some brand X cognac to top-up my hot choccy. That Martell sat there for 3 years, untouched. A gift from one of the richer (than me) dudes at ex's work, before we became almost divorced. Once I'd the taste for it, it lasted a week. Pretty good for a half bottle.

There. See. I am mild mannered :))

    *slump*

  • I'm gonna have ChristMASS ASS

Saw P for the first time in about 3 weeks today. She arrived, armed with chocolate biscuits, etc. Quite a lot. She said she knew there would be a plethora of pubescent boys draped over my couch and I needed all the help I could get to fill the bottomless pits they call stomachs :>>

She brought stripy socks that she's knitted for me too (woohoo!)

To cut a long story short ... Starbucks, Debenhams cafe, some other shops, a Dara O'Briain DVD for my ex (from Mini) ... then ... instead of taking me home, she took me to Tesco, lent me £60 and waited in the cafe for me!

I get money possibly before Christmas, but probably just after. Dad sent me a cheque too, and one for Mini.

I was gobsmacked about P's loan. It made it all so easy. I was going to wait till Wednesday in the hope that money would be in my account, then ask my ex to drive me to Tesco. It's all a bit last minute but that woulda been ok even if he couldn't drive me there. She made it no problems at all, no slight anxiety hanging over me.

She's driving to her parent's house tomorrow. Hope she's ok. She has ongoing heart problems and has had a flare up recently.

We're planning to spend New Years at her house watching films and nomming chocolate lots.

Tis the season to eat guilt-free :>>

Today, the neighbour brought me a box of chocolates, to thank me for my diplomatic services :D

All they wanted is to be understood and not labelled as 'bad'. The kids and the adult.

  • Oh for heaven's sake, woman

Does anyone think that's in any way attractive?

  • Stuff, today

Ex came round today. He's preparing the ground for a new family life. Talking things through with me and letting me know that he's considering how it'll affect Mini and doing his best to avoid any problems. I'm so grateful for that. Went out for lunch to the place I used to have lunch with his sister, when we worked together. Had a right old blether with the owner - he remembered me from then (3 years ago!)

Went to his house to sort some stuff on his lappie. (imported bookmarks to firefox etc) Then he dropped me in town.

I was to get myself a Christmas present from Mini. Mini had given £10 worth of book tokens to him for this purpose (which were a present from someone to HIM but he has no pocket money left as he's a bit guff like that) ... get Mum a book, a teddy and a card. lol

Since it's book tokens and not gift vouchers I didn't buy that DVD I'd been wanting for a while. Got a book but had to add to the tokens. I can't tell you which one as it's a surprise and I might be reading this.

Got two cards and ... wrapping paper for my present

It's been quite a nice day, Mini has gone to stay with a friend overnight so I'm settling down for a soap-a-thon :>>

    Well :D

It's been a great week ... or rather, 11 days. Lots of fun stuff that probably happens all the time but I normally wouldn't notice. Spent the week feeling slightly iffy and looking after the wee yin who was off school. But still - happiness! The 3 of us watched Wall E *passes sick buckets round to readers* - yes, it was that cute :>>

He stayed longer than he'd originally intended *joy* and this past weekend was ace

Day of rest on Saturday but wandered into town on Sunday. The German Market was on one of the greens ... gorgeous. Baubles, ornaments, German food, hats, lots of shiny :>> Had lunch in Wetherspoons (yum) wandered further into town ... the market is full of home-made-type stuff on Sundays ... beautifully, there was a sax/guitar combo playing a Christmas theme to our festive stroll. Later, a Drum Band were battering the crap out of central Cambs' ears ... gawd it was like a family-friendly rave :))

Stood in Game waiting to buy something Mini influenced Andy with :)) and even that was hysterical. The woman in front of us bought over a grand's worth of wii stuff 8| and a bloke, who looked a lot like a retarded Omid Djalili, amused us and made the queue entertaining. Yes, we've got it bad.

Pulsating hysterics in the bus on the way home ... when it dawned on me what I'd said to the Hare Krishna dude (read ajnspencer's blog if you don't know) Oh well, it was worth the embarrassment for the amount of laughter.

Got home to settle down for the night, flick the Jack Dee concert on, open lappie, check email, read ... Paddy's blog :)) :)) :)) flick the Jack Dee concert off so we can pay attention to the continued theme for the day ... side-splitting humour ;D

    I shouldn't laugh, but I will.

Aaaaaanyway. He got on the train at 5.15 today. Yes, I shed some tears on the way outta the station. But yes, I'm ok. It won't be as long till I see him again.

Sorry for being so damn sickening ;) it's because ... we are :))

Thursday was a quiet evening with Andy arriving at 2ish and the wee yin here after school. Friday we wandered into town for lunch and window gazing. Saturday wasn't an ice fair, but it was a Winter Fair, on the main street near my house. There will be pictures (yay!) when he goes (booo!) Today has been a quiet day too. Put decorations up and sorted some photo stuff.

The wee yin is not very well, he phoned me earlier from his dad's house. He'll be dropped here tomorrow instead of school. Bad throat and all that. I don't know what it is ... every time he goes there he gets ill. His dad looks after him and all that but he comes home ill :(

I've cut down on smoking. Having about half of what I had before. Leaving it an hour and a half between roll-ups. It isn't that difficult either. I wanted to cut down and this way was Andy's idea ... it works :>>

    ... hours to go.

Washed the sink and I'm way too hot now. Man, this chest thing is taking ages to go.

De-scaled the kettle. I was worrying about it cos even though my taste buds used to be hypersensitive to limescale, when Mini asked ex if he wanted a cuppa tea last week he said "Not in this house!" So I must've gotten used to it :| Cheeky bastard though.

I feel fat :( Can't wait to start the gym stuff again. Hope the weather picks up a bit though cos it really is awful cycling in the nippyness when yer muscles are guff.

I did all of the list except getting advent fillers. I'd have to go into town for that and I'm trying to save bus fares etc till there's good reason.

In other news, I was removed from the church website. They decided that because I hadn't been to church for a year - I must have left. Fair enough, woulda been nice if they'd got in touch though. Hmm. Guess I won't be going there for Christmas dinner then. They hold a Christmas dinner most years for folk who have no family nearby (or just no family). You bring a dish of food with you and all muck in with the serving and cooking. The travelling would have caused problems anyway. Me & the wee yin will make it ok. I'm looking forward to it now, the other day must have been a blip. Or mibbe it's ok cos I'll have company soon :))

In other other news ... I've just spoken to my bro on the phone :>> and there's no horribleness between us whatsoever :>> :>> he's been doing life stuff himself and we still bicker about God :))

Right. Better get moving and 'do stuff'. I'll give Andy yer love ;D xxx

Er ... sorry for whinging on and on about lack of dosh and all that. The last thing I want is for anyone to feel they have to tiptoe round about money stuff.

    It'll be fine :>> I'm such a drama queen.

Joked with Mini's pal about being his adopted mum the other day, the boys seemed to like that idea so I got them both to decorate the tree today :))

OMG Bagpipes! Soz, watching Corrie cos I taped it earlier. It's gonna be explosive tonight heeheehee.

Only about 20 hours to wait now - woohoo! Someone finished website twiddling early :>>

Two more days to get through.

Well I tried. An hour in bed and my brain won't bloody shut up.

Am now drinking hot chocolate with brandy. Except it's not chocolate flakes, it's Galaxy powder stuff. It's not brandy, it's Martell ;)

    Tastes frickin great anyway.

Rich Hall is on QI and he really does look like Moe the Bartender. He was funny last week blahblahblah ...

    :DD

  • a little bit more

    Ignore all that.

At least I'm not still flaked out on the couch like the boy is. Poor wee lamb.

Fulla Calpol ... and Earl Grey *smirk* he likes it again. I will influence that boy, I will.

Got a full 5 hours last night, which was ok. Almost a normal night. It takes a while to re-adjust yer sleep pattern, doesn't it?

Remembered to send bro's card. Haven't looked through the desk-full-of-mum-stuff yet. Maybe when Andy's here. Find the pastels :D I'm excited about looking through that stuff with him. Let's face it ... I'm excited about just sitting on the couch looking at him  :D

Still no sign of the AC adaptor :??: they're cutting it fine and I'm seriously hacked-off about that. Part of me thinks I shoulda ordered 2 bloody adaptors cos if this happens again and my PC isn't working, I'll be climbing the walls. Take nothing for granted.

Won't be doing anything with the tree tonight, I think neither of us are up to it. I'll see how he feels tomorrow *hugging the boy*

Kids are like wee hot water bottles :>>

  • not a lot

    *tsk*

I've been so careful not decorating till December, that I've messed up the Advent Calendar. Must get some stuff to put in it

Got the ladders outta the shed. Thanked God for the light that was installed in loft 4 years ago. Got manky boxes from said loft. That was no mean feat. The tree box weighs a frickin ton. I had to balance it on my head as I descended the ladder, then winced as the corner of it poked into my arm muscles fat. Slid box downstairs to find ...

... bags and bags of charity shop stuff sitting in hall waiting to be plonked outside the Children's whateveritis shop.

Plopped bags outside ^^^ that shop, went to Co-op, got pissed-off cos one bag of shopping cost £16. Am I going mad? I'm sure you used to get 3 bags of shopping for that. My Co-op vouchers are worth £9 this year. Last year I got £40 ! Really, really puzzled by that. I spend a fortune in there.

It's all weighing on me. I've bought nothing for Christmas except frozen roast parsnips for £1 *sigh*

I've been saving a £5er a week to give Mini some dosh for Christmas so he can go to the HipHop Shop for clothes. Here ye go ... buy yerself some clothes for Christmas :'(

It's my own fault. I should snap out of it, get my head together and be working. Procrastination/fear/whatever.

I'll be ok inna bit so don't go all huggy on me. I brought it all on myself.

Arg! Wanna switch comments off. You don't have to comment. xxxx
