  • success!

The activity holiday went really well, although it was touch and go for a bit. Mini says he wanted to come home during the first couple of days, as did the others. They stuck with it and it was 'phat' :DD

Of course there were the expected arguments with the adults there. They're trained well and won the boys over. No fights between the boys, except for the usual bickering then making up between Mini & S. No knives involved

He got back at 3ish, saw his room and hugged me like mad. Loves the room, loved the holiday, loves the tee shirt and CD ... lots of thank yous. Nice to see him so happy.

All the clothes had to be washed and I really hope they're dry by tomorrow so I can pack it for him going to his dad's. He has to be at school, for the trip, at 6am on Monday so ex is gonna drive him there.

So, busy weekend for me. The bruises are bugging me, the one on my forearm has a lump and I keep banging it on stuff. Will be better tomorrow.

I don't feel like I've done much today but am exhausted even so.

You have ignored me, in private messages, asking you to stop. Is there any other way I've not tried yet?

So damn tired. Well, my body is anyroads.

Ex arrived at 2ish and treated me to lunch, very nice of him. Then we got the decorating finished. That was the easy bit.

Loft beds are notoriously tricky to take apart. We unscrewed some bolts and stuff then manoeuvred the uprights downstairs to the kitchen to have 50 cm taken off each one. The boy is sick of being way too close to the ceiling :))

Putting it together again in his new room was trickier. He snapped, I went all weepy (inside me only) and apologetic

Then we had to take my desk upstairs. Both couldn't be arsed to take it to bits so somehow got it upstairs in one piece. At one point the full weight of it was balanced on my forearms as I held onto the bannister.

There's a ton of my PC room stuff on the floor in front of the telly, a ton of his stuff in my bedroom and his old room looks like a vacated bedsit (part-furnished, stickers ripped off the walls, dust everywhere). My head's thumping, I'm soaked with sweat and my back is threatening me ...

    *shakes fist at back*

I was holding off the tears till he left but Andy phoned just before so the tears stayed where they were.

    3 sleeps.

  • :o)

I was on a non-starter this morning, I knew that. My head wasn't coping at all.

Lasted in Pilates for 20 minutes before I sobbed out the door, apologising

Got changed and drove into town with P. Got euros for the wee yin's school trip next week. Had lunch in John Lewis, gawd that was nice. Cajun chicken on flatbread (with sour cream), followed by a strawberry tart and a latte.

Wandered. Curry's is closing. Nothing worth buying though. HMV was more fruitful. An Evil Monkey tee for me and a Halo tee for holiday boy. I picked up Barack Obama's 2nd book too. Haven't read the first but I guess I'll catch up ;) Oh and I got him Eminem's new one. It's had some shitty reviews but he loves it.

He's been on my mind a lot, the wee yin. I'm desperate to get his room finished so he can settle in and I can shift the furniture back to where it should be. Arg. I know he feels loved. He needs to feel consistency and strength from me too.

Am in better frame of mind tonight :D

  • dry eyes now

Alec Weston was in the area yesterday and we met up for a cuppa and a chat. Most enjoyable and I reckon we were in the only part of the country with the sun splitting the rocks :))

It was ace to see him again and I have the least post-meet-stress. Although I did eat rather a lot of Mini's friend's Custard Creams last night :>> The boy foolishly left them on the shelf in my living room.

Am off to Pilates and town. Today will be tiring. I sense PMT.

    5 more sleeps

P.S. I have about 70 comment notifications and they're overwhelming me. I'll try.

Also, Mala ... don't worry *hugs*

  • Ha!

Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream smells utterly disgusting

Does anyone know of a good book or summat that can help kids adjusting to a new step-family?

    ;D

  • zonk, ouch, etc.

Way too much pain. Shouldn't have gone to town so early. Had to change the bra I bought yesterday as it didn't fit. (BTW Mala, go get fitted properly) ... I'm gob-smacked at how badly I was measured last time.

Took lappie as I thought I'd breeze into Starbucks and spend the day webbing. You have to be registered with T mobile to use their web! And Nero's web costs frickin a tenner!

Wandered. Found a cafe with outdoor seating a FREE internet. Woohoo.

Anyway, I walked too much today and I'm paying for it.

Got hair done and I LOVE it. What a high. Wait for a year then get yer haircut (it's a bit of a slow process) :))

I hate the actual cutting part ... it's the afterwards that's good, once the mirror is gone. But I feel about 5 years younger.

May have to gub valium tonight xx

  • another wee snigger

Me? I never get shouted at.

Today at AquaFit, I nudged my heaving-bosomed friend and said "ooh he's nice, ain't he?" (about the Life Guard)

She giggled and pointed at a swimmer in the lane behind "and him"

The trainer asked what we were giggling about. "Ooh just a bit of window shopping" said my daft pal.

    Blah blah

After I got dressed I sat in the lounge bit drinking water and psyching myself up for heading to Tesco.

The Life Guard appeared with just a towel on! ... four times! He kept walking backwards and forwards passed me, in and out of the changing room.

See. They do act like peacocks :DD

    I'm frickin FORTY! I walk with a stick! I'm Mrs Blobby :))

Ok so he was probably hovering around for someone else to check him out, but it gave me a giggle. Can't wait to tell that aqua pal, she'll love it :))

  • blah

    Bravissimo ... check
    Lunch ... check
    AquaFit ... check
    Tesco ... check
    Nando's ... no.

Mini phoned and asked if we could ditch the dinner idea as he's missed his pals all week. He's been off school with a weird headachey bug.

He's also decided he doesn't want to go to his dad's till tomorrow. His pals again.

So I've sent him out to get me crackers and sweets.

Dammit. He just got back with crackers and chocolate biscuits

Oh well, at least I have summat for my brie to sit on. Little crumbly plates :))

    That's ma carrae-oot sorted ...

BTW gutted that Dotty's really a demon child. And really want to slap Julie in Corrie. Ah shurrup, I have to listen to you lot banging on about bluddy fitba'.

  • need summa that sunshine

Am achey. Mini's been off school all week. Sun is shining. Back in overdraft but have paid off bulk of store card debt (which I'd promised myself I'd never run up but shit happens)

Am considering Bravissimo today, then lunch, then AquaFit, then Tesco shop (to make the most of bus ticket) then back here to take Mini for dinner as treat. Then ex here to collect him for the weekend.

Have bought gloss and decided to do that when Mini isn't here, cossa the fumes.

Have phone credit again too. Looking forward to having decent food ;)

Considering leg waxing too as I've never done that (I tried myself but was guff)

Boring blog. Soz. Achiness is bugging me. Bath time.

  • Keep on

I found this on the TOGS website. It was in Mother Theresa's notes. I likey.

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centred.
    Love them anyway!
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
    Do good anyway!
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
    Succeed anyway!
The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow.
    Do it anyway!
Honesty and openness will make you vulnerable.
    Be honest and open anyway!
What you spent years building may be destroyed overnight.
    Build anyway!
People really need help but may attack you if you try to help them.
    Help them anyway!
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway!

  • everything stretched?

Am hoping that the Vanish powder my tea-towel is steeping in will shift the blood.

Last night the bairn and his cousin turned up, flustered and hurried. The cousin had tripped and slammed on the pavement, hand on a nail (or summat). Blood poured freely from the wound as he used the outside tap to wash the dirt out. He held the wall with one hand to stop himself tipping.

Mini grabbed a tea-towel and pressed against the wound, holding till it (and they) calmed. *Dettol* ... ouch.

Sister-in-law appeared half an hour later and took him to A & E.

The doc said he may have broken it in 3 places. His hand was numb last night and now it's very swollen. They gave him pain killers ... no anti-biotics ... no tetanus ... no x-ray! Maybe put Vanish on his hand?

[Jeez, you can't edit without losing line breaks!]

No idea what age ... 5?

  • I recognise that voice!

I was chatting with Mini's friend, Maxi, yesterday ...

Me - Did he tell you he's going away with Motiv8?

Him - Yeah, wow ... it seems the worse behaved you are, the more you get.

Me - *chokes* ... LW, is that you? ... Naah, it's the ones who get caught and co-operate ;)

    I've stopped worrying.

When child support stops the Child Tax Credit will go up. I think.

  • May/June and today

The Motiv8 folk were ace :D

Most impressed. There's a meeting next week and on 26th he goes away with them and 19 kids for an 'activity holiday' !

His friends, the ones who have been in trouble recently; including one who got into a nasty fight with the other night, will be going too. Their names were put forward by 'whoever' (police? council?) He comes back on the 30th then goes away for his school trip on the 1st :))

Him and the friend who had the nasty fight, have sorted everything out mega swiftly. I think it was the realisation that they could both enjoy this and their stupid ruck might fuck it up. Idiots.

Oh well at least that's over

    Today

went really well. My Pilates trainer has noticed that my posture is improving. So chuffed. I'd noticed too ... I walk taller, am not trying to hide my boobs by surrounding them with shoulders.

    Shock Horror (though)

A BLOKE appeared at Pilates today 8| Most amusing. All of us gawped at him as he arrived ... waiting for him to announce he was looking for the gym or rowing club or summat. He wanted GP referral Pilates :))

One big, black bloke amongst 8 ageing women. He stuck it out, so to speak. Kudos to him for that. We were on our bestest behaviour ;D

Went into town with P. Decided to batter fuck outta my Debenhams card. I've been wearing the same tee shirts for aaaages and I'm sick of it. Got 2 stripy tees for me, a tee for Mini with a picture of a dog wearing a hat riding a bike *snigger* I was gonna have it if he didn't like it but he bloody did *gutted*

8 pairs of knickers too. Joy. There's a sale on. 30% discount is pretty good.

I have NO buyers remorse. I'll be teaching Andy that one ...

The wee yin told me the other week that he's going to head for training as a plumber when he leaves school. He's ditched the idea of being in the RAF for now.

His thinking is ... the world will always need plumbers, and the wages are no' bad.

Do any of you know of the pros and cons of being a plumber?

  • Radio 2 needs Andy

On the Jeremy Vine show ... they interviewed the Pastor of the child who was killed in a hit & run accident recently. The driver has done a runner. Of course there were the usual reactionaries saying what a bad person she is etc.

    One word. Shock.

Anyway, guess what track they played directly after this interview ...

Will Young - Think I Better Leave Right Now

    WHAT?

I don't have time to proper rant about the whole thing. Gawd, how ironic. I have to leave. Damn.

    I'll be back ....

  • giblets

Didn't get to Pilates the other day. Waking up in time FAIL. Slept through 3 alarms. Started the painting ... as penance. Got 2 walls done before I was exhausted. Shabby :-/

Ex came round and did the second coat today. He's gonna buy the other pot of paint I'll need, which is cool cos it was £31 and I just can't do the other one. Surprised it's gonna take so much paint tbh. But I've never used the Easy Clean paint before. It goes on differently and the previous colour was terracotta.

The skirting boards look frickin manky :)) the ceiling too.

Am looking forward to it being finished, fresh and new.

Speaking of new ... I think ex is pleased that I got on ok with his wife on the phone the other day. Didn't give her the kinda gyp I've seen friends give the 'new' person. I told her I was just wanting to chat to him about when he could help with decoration. Don't want her feeling like I did years ago. We even had a laugh about teenage boys/loud music.

She's already had a taste of ex being constantly phoned by certain folk to run them around/help out/lend money (ex told me, I wouldn't talk to her about that). Ex says it's not even as bad as it was years ago. So that tells you what it was like ;) He's not gonna make the same mistake. Good.

Watching Extreme Male Beauty cos I saw Tim Shaw talking about it this morning. Waiting for the waxed giblets. I've never seen that before :>>

    Ooh look

My pal came round bearing gifts.

Watching the dogs was worth it, without these ...

There are wrappers left but I'm too lazy to photo them :>>

    Highlight of the day.

Apart from reading the first line of this article :)) then having to read it aloud to Mini and his mate cos I was laughing so much.

I just moved an old, heavy dining room table up the stairs! It took about 20 minutes right enough :))

    Can't believe I did that ... hahahaha.

    Er, that's all.

  • Meme from La Spice

Name 10 things that bore you

    1) When folk try to win you over to something even though you make it clear you're not interested (thanks NotBob) I had a family argument about this last year. It involved tears.

    2) My own thoughts, when my brain won't bloody shut up.

    3) When folk try to make me feel guilty. I totally switch off. *yawn* (see 2)

    4) Things not changing. I love changing stuff even if it's just getting a pillow speaker, or shifting furniture.

    5) Most religious speakers ;)

    6) Make-up stuff. I'm not a proper girly girl.

    7) Sarah Kennedy and Elaine Paige on Radio 2.

    8) Novels set years ago in foreign countries. I stumble over the names of characters and places.

    9) Folk bigging themselves up all the time, unless it's said with humour.

    10) Pointless arguing. This involves number 1 and number 9.

  • all the same

Do any of you feel like this?

Blog started and we all made a load of new friends, it was excellent. Like a cozy comfy place to hang out and have a laugh. We settled into it and got used to other folk and their characters.

Then, a spate of new bloggers arrive and the dynamics change. New friendships happen and we/some feel a bit edged out. Not that we are but it feels that way when we're having a bad day or whatever. I'm not just talking personal experience or paranoia either. I've noticed others feeling p'd off or sad.

It's typical social dynamics. I'm not speaking as an expert or anything, just stuff I notice.

Not sure what I want to say here ... I can't fix it with words in this post. Just wanted to write it so other folk know they're not alone. Most of us feel like we don't fit in here or there. I'm a lazy cnut, I know I should make more of an effort. Try to throw off some of my baggage (once you know me you'll hate me, ditch me and then I'll know I'm shit, kinda thing).

In short ... I like cliques :)) As long as I'm IN one :))

  • Or a squirrel?

We may have rats or mice in the attic. Well, Mini thinks so and I'll trust his judgement as his face is 2 foot away from the ceiling when he sleeps. Scampering.

    The council's shut.

I hope the stuff up there isn't wrecked.

  • ,

Today has been a whole lot of crap :>>

Really am at the bottom of it.

  • Sunday Post

I'm ashamed of how sorry for myself I feel. It's a bad habit. It's why I say 'no flowers please' ... those are almost an encouragement to wallow. Not healthy.

Dark humour and self-deprecation is much more fun.

I have a LOT to be grateful for. I've done the (mostly) comfortable-financially bit, living hand-to-mouth is preferable to my life then because of him and knowing we'll be together some time.

  • Sittingday

10 hours sleep - no Valium. Result.

Had an excellent chat with the wee yin this morning ... gang culture, the Taliban, control, sex, careers, confidence, respect, etc.

He toddled off to watch X Men at the pictures. Since then, him and a troop of small adults having been wandering through the living room, up the stairs to his room and back down again. Many times.

I've just texted him. He's late.

I shifted more weeds cos the green wheelie gets emptied this week. Hoping to start on the painting tomorrow. Realised I don't have to wait on ex to do ceiling first, as the whole room's gonna be white anyway :>>

He came back, has dropped his phone somewhere and will have to go look for it.

He's the master of 'excuses for staying out later' and really, really crap at looking after his stuff.

Hormones aplenty. My hips ache. I'm They're not lying :DD

  • I was one of two guinea pigs

    ... today :>>

I walked to the gym using my stick as a kind of propeller. My hips swivel too much when I walk and it hurts my left hip and back. I use the stick like a ski stick :)) It makes me go faster and hurt less. Sorted.

The aquafit was a right laugh and mega effective as usual. Slightly rave-y music today.

The trainer brought over these weird floats with straps attached. Me & S had a go. The floaty bit goes round yer back and the straps attach like a belt. There's a kind of bungee strap at the back with two hooks. Y'know those ones you use to fix stuff to a bike? Well, they get hooked onto the cable that runs between swimming lanes. If you're deep enough, you're suspended! It's excellent. Then you 'run' on the spot using the water as pressure the give yer legs and arms a safe but tough work-out. Am impressed. Knackered but impressed :D

Got a lift home from lovely, friendly person.

Since I'm only allowed dull, bland food, making spag bol for the wee yin was torture. Chish n Fips made up for it though.

I did stuff today, I did. And sleep will beckon me with a curly, upturned finger, soon.

  • Pamela Des Barres, I believe, was the original

Er ... some of the links in Popbitch are quite ... interesting this week

but Not Safe For Work :))

  • dull, sunny day

Didn't take Valium last night. Thought I'd see how it goes with my back. Is fine. Didn't sleep for 10 hours, in fact, woke at 5ish *eep* and took ages to get to sleep.

    Thinking about ...

I have no money to go to AquaFit tomorrow. Will count up the jar of coppers and take them to that building society. Oh wait ... they'll only change them if I'm a customer. I'll tell them I am, in a different branch. What if they ask which one? I'll say London. What if they ask which one in London? Picadilly. What if there isn't one in Picadilly? I'll look online when I wake up. What if I just got up NOW and looked? NO!

Mini was late coming in tonight. I'll get him to set his alarm on his phone. No ... I'll do it. Then he won't be able to moan at me. I better do it now, where's his mobile? He'll hear it if I switch it on. I won't be able to sleep. Shut up, me.

Why was his cousin walking down the back lane with him, sneakily yesterday? I bet it's summat to do with bikes. Nicked bikes. I'm so soft. Right, he's banned from hanging about with him. I'll phone ex. No. I'll phone cousin's mum. No. I'll phone the PCSO. No. I'll talk to Mini. In the morning

So when I woke at 5.30 I wandered into Mini's room to look out window at bikes. Woke him accidentally. Paced back to bed. Plugged pillow speaker in again .... and on ... and on ... and on ...

He started arguing with me this morning. Normal teenage guff. Mouthiness. Had an altercation between his knuckles and bedroom door.

He's off now, at my beck and call all day. I'm making him come to AquaFit with me ;) swollen hand and all.

Gawd that was dull. Sorry x :))
