Wednesday. Dunno why cos I love Pilates.

4. There have actually been eleven Bloody Sunday events around the world, the last one (1972) leading to a song by U2. Which world wide event would you like to see a song written for?
The general revolution that seems to be seeping through the nation, kicking off about MPs, BBC management, Newspaper big wigs getting paid so damn much.

He'd bought me a stool to use in the kitchen in between stirs when I'm cooking, last time he was here. He carried that stool into town for me. Wee lamb. It was BLISS not having to shift from one foot to the other, holding my back in pain. I rewarded him with a surprise flask of tea and two cups. I know how to live it up, I do.

* Next day my mattress arrived. Woop. Very comfy. Like lying on a great big sponge that thought will have to be replaced.

* Had a run-in with Mad Woman. Andy went to one shop, I went to another, first visiting the hole-in-the-wall. She was on her (usual) bench.

* Mini's PC hard drive fried. He switches it off by the mains when he's stropping. Div. Ex put it in shop and drove into town with us. cuppa in Starbux. P walked in with another friend. The dog was sick and he needs to wash the carpet. He brought her over in the car.

Poor wee Jess. I am besotted with her. She's a 14 month old liver-coloured English Cocker Spaniel. She'll be a gun dog at some point in the future. When they chose her (ex and Mini) they picked her because she was the calm one. Her sisters were springing around all over the place. She's clever, learns commands fast, but is also a bit stressy just now. She's never been beyond kennels and is finding it all a bit overwhelming.

She hadn't eaten since arriving with them last weekend. They've bought all kinds of foods and they remain opened, un-eaten, wrapped in placky bags. I gave her (processed) chicken slices. She nommed! Woohoo!

Anyway, when he got here he went into the cupboard under the stairs to collect the hoover. Everything in that cupboard is covered in dust. It's foam-backed carpet dust. When we first moved here years ago, we went to a carpet shop and chose a hessian-backed carpet for the stairs. We only had one bike between us so I sauntered off to get the bus. He went back in the shop and changed the carpet order so we got a cheapo foam-backed one!

I suspect that's why he decided to empty the whole cupboard today and clean it out Nice. I'm so so so grateful though. He took everything out, chucked the un-needed boxes in the recycle, whacked the off-cuts of carpet that I keep <del>for no good reason</del> to get rid of all the dust, hoovered and put everything back with a big polythene sheet over it! So tidy

Jess kept going in the cupboard as it was like a wee room. Her own wee room

Damn, concentration going. Am watching Seven Days On The Breadline. feel like crying for that daft lad with the tag on his ankle. And the wee souls saying "Free!" when they get new (and very cheap) shoes that fit

Not really, but memories of childhood stories always appear when a standard type is mentioned (Friday 13th, walking under ladders) I rebel.

No, I'm a recluse <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

I don't have one, I get too scared

4. Trick or Treat?
Treat, for sure. A weekend in Paris, ta

5. The best Halloween costume is...?
One that took a bit of effort, either home-made by the mum that Jack Dee was on about (complete with 'hover' facility) or a bought one (with added stuff that put you in character

Woke up this morning and went downstairs. Ewww, the smell of fish! I had king prawn baked things the other day and a prawn risotto last night ... and hadn't washed the dishes yet

No wonder Mini's pal had gone home really early, feeling sick!

The wee yin's dad came to collect him this morning. They were going into town, as was I. P isn't around (we normally 'do' Thursdays) so I decided to go myself.

Had lunch, wandered. <del>Browsed</del> window shopped. Looked for an alarm clock for Mini. The projecting one his dad gave him isn't working, the old one he already had is useless as one of his mates stood on the aerial and broke it off (and the buttons are impossible to press now cos it's old). He gets a crap reception in his room so I ended up considering a digi radio.

Looked at the time on my phone and found a text from Mini's dad. "Do you want lunch?" (except he spelt it wrongly)

Mini was treated well today. A year's Xbox Live, a new game, trainers and gloves!

Ex had to get summat from Argos so drove us up to the industrial estate. There's no way I was paying John Lewis prices for a clock.

Did that and got dropped home. So so so pleased with the clock. Managed to find an extension so I could put the clock and clip-on lamp up on his loft bed <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

Did a spot of online shopping

Bought a new KS mattress on credit. Airsprung, memory foam topped. Due on 4th of November ... wooooohooooo!

Adios, sore back (I hope) <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

Loves it.

Here's what someone described it as ...

Basically the widget works by giving you the opportunity to add your blog URL at the very end, when you have clicked through all the boxes and made all your choices you can either click on the top button to visit a blog (you do not have to put in 2 new choices or your URL each time).
Or, before you click to be taken to a new blog you can enter your blog URL at the bottom, this will automatically add you to the list of possible sites, you do not need to install the widget to be included on the list. But that does of course help more people find it!

The blog that you get forwarded to will be randomly chosen from all those on the database to one that most closely matches the answers you picked.

Cos I'm not great at explaining.

She ended up in hospital for a few weeks and when she came out she seemed to have shrivelled slightly. She said that she'd thumped the wall a bit, trying to attract attention. I didn't hear her, nor did Mini or the ex.

Tonight I heard an alarm exactly like my phone alarm, ringing and ringing and ringing. For ages. Me & the lad realised it was coming from next door, Audrey's house. I worried a bit. The wee yin did too. We like her, used to have a laugh with her before she went a bit odd with him.

I knocked her front door. No answer. Again. No answer.

Damn. Told Mini I'd have to go to her friend's house. Double damn. Her friend is an awful person. Treats Mini really badly. Talks to him like a lump of shit. Oh well, had to go to her, there was nothing else for it.

I told her and she turned up her nose at me and said she'd come and see. No, I didn't have to wait for her to escort her in the dark. Fine.

10 minutes later she came to my door. "Audrey's fine, she was upstairs making the bed and an alarm clock went off downstairs. She has alzheimers don'choo know?"

Mini pokes his head round my shoulder, concerned.

"You go away, this is nothing to do with you!"

Then Audrey comes up to my door ... "what have I done wrong now? etc."

I tried to explain that I was concerned for her when I heard the alarm going off for ages but ended up feeling like I'd accused her of something.

I don't know what that friend said to her before Audrey saw me

Fuckit. I'm definitely keeping myself to myself, again.

Hi R****,
It was great seeing you and your husband the other day! Your son looks so big! The reason I’m writing to you today is a small matter of concern, mainly your dog. I’ve seen the way he’s been looking at my Fifi and I don’t like it. I can’t afford to take care of puppies right now so please make sure he stays away from my dog.
Hope to see you soon!
Hi J****,
Ranger isn’t an outside dog and only goes outside to do his business on the other side of the house from your yard. If he’s ever outside of the yard, he’s always on leash, so he shouldn’t bother your dog.
Cheers,
R****

J** *** 25 August at 12:42
I warned you about your dog! He raped my baby and now Fifi is pregnant! I told you I can’t afford puppies, so I expect you to cover all costs. I’ll drop the vet bills off tonight.

R** *** 25 August at 16:11
Hi J***,
I’m sorry to hear that your dog is pregnant. However, I will not be paying for anything. There are three reasons for this.
1) Ranger has not been out of the house in over 2 weeks due to a nasty run in with some spear grass.
2) My dog is a bichon frise. Your dog is a great dane. Ranger couldn’t even reach Fifi without a ladder and a map, so rape is an incredibly harsh accusation. Fifi would have to be very willing for that pairing.
3) And really, this is the most important note: Ranger is fixed. He’s been neutered since we got him from the pound 2 years ago. I have all of the paperwork from the initial vet visit if you wish to see it.
I hope you find the father of her puppies. If not, you could sell them and try to recoup your losses.
Good luck,
R****

At 7PM that night, J** came over to our house to drop off the vet bills. When we reiterated the fact that Ranger is fixed, he became verbally abusive and started making threats about raping our 15 month old son to get back at us. I, of course, called the police and pressed charges. Two weeks later, I received another email from J** on Facebook.

John * 12 September at 12:42
Dear R****,
I’m sorry for uttering threats against you and your family. After speaking with my lawyer, I realize that it was wrong. I’ll tell you what, if you agree to drop the charges, you’ll only have to pay for half the vet bills.
Yours Truly,
J****

    J** *** 12 September at 16:54
I’ll drop of an invoice at your house if that will be easier.

    J** *** 12 September at 23:56
Sorry I missed you tonight. I’ll try again tomorrow!

    J** *** 13 September at 11:23
Are you out of town? I left the invoice in your mailbox. You can pay me as soon as you get back.

Hello? I noticed you updated your Facebook status. Does that mean you’re home?

    Hello?

6 days ago we got a letter from J**’s lawyer about his intent to sue. I faxed the lawyer a copy of my dog’s medical records with the date he was neutered circled. We haven’t heard from either the lawyer or J** since.

Yeah, I know it's about this 'n' that, but I'm fairly sure I can shoehorn myself into it somehow without too much effort.

I've come over all Scottish again recently Bought Tutti Frutti (finally released on dvd in August ... did I say that in a previous post?) Desperate to watch it. Will wait till da man's here.

Watched Mr & Mrs MacIntosh this morning, about Charles Rennie MacIntosh and his wife Margaret (recorded from last night) It was EPIC. Really enjoyable, and stirred up a big heap of Scottishicity in me. So much so that I made those bluddy Rowies (butteries) today. They were grotesque. Am slightly ashamed for being such a shit baker. I ate 3 of them when they were warm, not too bad. <del>Forced Mini to have a bite of a fourth</del> Gave one to Mini to try and finished that one too. Big Mistake. I can still taste the lard. The butter should be the prominent flavour

Watched The Glencoe Massacre too. Feck. That got the tartan blood running a bit quicker! Catastrophic fuck up. Total mismanagement of arsey government officials and double-dealing. Nothing's changed then. Made me want to cry TBH. That's not uncommon though, when hearing the tale. I've wept, as millions of others have, when travelling through that way. I used to live near Fort William for a time, years ago.

1 lb potatoes
1½ tbsp ghee or oil
1 tsp Panch Phora
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp chopped mint or coriander
1 tsp ground turmeric
1½ tsp salt
½ tsp chilli powder (optional)
1¼ cup (2 fl oz) hot water
1 tsp Garam Masala
1 tbsp lemon juice

Peel potatoes, cut into quarters or, if very large, into cubes.
In a heavy-based pan with a lid, heat ghee or oil and add the Panch Phora. When mustard seeds begin to pop, add the onion and fry, stirring, until soft.
Add chopped herbs, turmeric, salt and chilli powder (if used).
Add potatoes, stir well, sprinkle with hot water and cover pan tightly.

Cook over very low heat for 20 minutes, shaking pan occasionally to prevent sticking.
Sprinkle with Garam Masala and lemon juice, replace lid and cook for a further 10 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
Serve with Parathas, Chapatis or rice.

It says it's for 4 people but ... no way! That did me 2 nights tea, so it's a meal for 2 (with rice or whatever)
